Learning Culture Office Specialist Learning Culture and Resources Primary Purpose The Learning Culture Office Specialist will report to the Assistant Vice President for Learning Culture and Resources and work in close collaboration with departments from across the College to facilitate all aspects of the development, coordination, and implementation of programs, events, and initiatives within the department.
The Learning Culture Office Specialist will office on the Palatka Campus; however, travel between the Colleges campuses in support of events and programming will be necessary.
Reports to Assistant Vice President for Learning Culture and Resources.
Description of Duties and Tasks 1.
With the AVP, determines programming and project timelines, establishes schedules, communicates with presenters and event staff, and creates supporting material in various modalities.
2.
Assists with collection and review of proposals for presentations, service projects, and awards.
3.
Coordinates staging of department event spaces; reserves event spaces following College protocols; coordinates with the Facilities Department for furniture setup, campus signs, and event breakdown; outfits spaces with needed materials; assists with event oversight on the day.
4.
Acquires materials and services.
5.
Maintains internal and public-facing department calendars and schedules; notifies AVP of conflicts or changes.
6.
Coordinates event promotions with Strategic Communications Office following College protocols as directed.
7.
Remains current in department practices and procedures and engages in professional development activities through notifications sent to employees' College email address and resources provided on the Department Employee Guide web site; remains aware of College business and policies from all departments as notified through the College's email system.
8.
Maintains awareness of the department tools and services available to SJR State students and employees; remains knowledgeable about those resources and the information provided on the public-facing Learning Resources web site.
9.
Answers directional and informational questions; maintains knowledge of and refers patrons to other College services.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned by the AVP.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1.
Ability to limit span of control to area of primary purpose, deferring to the Dean any concerns outside of that span of control.
2.
Strong English language skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the public in person, by telephone and by email.
3.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
4.
Ability to master Banner for accounting and acquisitions.
5.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Chrome; ability to master department programs.
6.
Ability to adapt to change.
7.
Ability to multitask.
8.
Ability to maintain a professional, cooperative, working relationship with all department staff members and College personnel.
9.
Ability to perform all job functions for an eight-hour shift, with an hour lunch break, without a significant risk of injury.
10.
Ability to attend training sessions in any modality as required.
11.
Ability to perform all of the above job functions independently, with minimal direct supervision, within three months after the employee begins work.
Other Ergonomic Requirements This position requires the ability to lift ten pounds.
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, carrying, and other movements may be required.
Tasks such as working at a computer keyboard involve extensive wrist and hand movement.
Qualification Standards Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
An Associate Degree is preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience performing similar tasks is required.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
