Summary:
This is independent professional work telling the compelling story of the district in an effort to help preserve and restore our natural resources.
This individual will write and create materials to help residents better understand the work of the district and will work collaboratively with the team to develop compelling content that increases overall stakeholder engagement and educates residents across an 18-county region.
Job duties include:
Writes compelling stories, both short and long form, that tell the story of the district and the district's employees to help educate the public about the great work the district is doing to improve water quality and quantity across the region.
Performs and participates in special communications projects and initiatives as assigned, assuming project leadership and responsibility for successful project implementation.
Projects may include serving as a liaison with select groups, such as other District divisions and bureaus, , advisory councils, and other agencies; writing for District publications, website, presentations, or other communication tools to reach various audiences; and developing and implementing communication plans for specific audiences or issues.
As needed, serves as the backup to present District information to civic, business and other special interest groups and facilitates presentations for others as needed.
Writes engaging and accurate speaking points on a number of topics for top-level leadership at the district.
Creates fact sheets and ghost writes for various members of leadership on hot topics happening across an 18-county region.
Strong ability to edit content that is written in AP Style.
Ability to synthesize complex material into readable content that helps residents better understand the district and its mission.
Minimum
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, communications, or a related field and four years of professional experience in public relations or related field.
Professional experience in public relations or related field can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Highly encourage applicants to include recent writing samples, appropriate samples would include press releases, newspaper articles, web blogs, social media posts or other relevant content at the time of application and include your writing samples as an attachment to your application in ADP no more than 5 pages of content.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Ability to create graphics using Adobe suite products, Canva or similar software.
Experience creating story maps using ArcGIS (or similar) software.
Experience creating and/or editing photo/video content.
Working Environment:
General office environment.
License:
Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Additional Details:
Salary Range:
$61,193.
60 - $76,481.
60 Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
